I am an assistant professor at the University of Ottawa’s School of Information Studies, where I teach research methods and evaluation, social network analysis and knowledge organization. My research focuses on scholarly communication, bibliometrics, altmetrics and open science and analyzes the role of social media in academia. I co-direct the #ScholCommLab, a research group that analyzes all aspects of scholarly communication in the digital age, together with Juan Pablo Alperin at Simon Frasier University in Vancouver, Canada. I am also an associate member of the Centre interuniversitaire de recherche sur la science et la technologie (CIRST) and an affiliated researcher of the Canada Research Chair on the Transformations of Scholarly Communication, Université de Montréal and the Observatoire des sciences et des technologies (OST), Université du Québec à Montréal.
